Personal Injury, Wrongful Death Suits Could Follow Fatal Wreck

By Matthew Maddox / February 20, 2020

Although criminal charges are not necessary in order to file personal injury or wrongful death suits, the evidence gathered by police is often very helpful in demonstrating either negligent or reckless conduct.

According to police, the 55-year-old female driver was traveling on the same road as the two teenagers, aged 18 and 15. The 18-year-old boy, was on a motorized scooter, driving the 15-year-old passenger.

The driver of the motor vehicle hit the scooter and then drove away.

The driver of the scooter suffered fatal injuries and apparently died while still at the scene of the accident. The passenger was transported to an area hospital, and was listed in critical condition.

Connecticut police later caught up to the driver who allegedly struck the scooter. The officers who initiated the traffic stop reported that they detected the odor of alcohol and that she appeared to have vomit on her clothing.

When questioned about whether she had drunk alcohol or used drugs that night, she reportedly told officers that she had.
