About Matthew Maddox

Matthew Maddox comes to the practice of law with a natural drive to advocate, protect and seek solutions. He was raised this way from the earliest of ages. His childhood and adolescence made him believe in redemption and second chances. He learned about fairness and resilience and fighting for what’s fair. The Maddox Law Firm approaches every new client and every case with these fundamental philosophies always driving your representation.

Matthew Maddox guides, protects and advocates for the criminally accused and the seriously injured. He graduated from Fairfield University in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. In order to earn money to start law school, he spent a year working in the Bronx, New York where he sold business telephone systems door-to-door. He worked throughout college and law school in order to pay for tuition, room and board.

He entered Suffolk University Law School in 1987 and graduated in 1990. After winding up a business that he and a friend had started while still in law school, Matthew sat for the Connecticut Bar in July, 1991 and was admitted to practice in December of that year.

He has been in private practice since then, defending across the entire range of motor vehicle and criminal allegations that arise in Connecticut State and Federal courts, as well as litigating serious injury cases throughout the State.

He is also a member of the Federal Bar of the State of Connecticut. Matthew was appointed in 2012 to the Juvenile Jurisdiction Policy and Operations Coordinating Council, a body created to study and make recommendations to the State of Connecticut regarding changes in juvenile court jurisdiction. He is a member of the Fairfield County Bar Association.

Matthew speaks Spanish fluently and is proud to have represented hundreds of Latin American clients throughout Connecticut. His Spanish-speaking clients have provided Matthew with the privilege of advocating for many hard-working people arduously seeking to establish themselves and have a voice within the courts of our State.

Matthew volunteers substantial time toward assisting student and parent groups throughout Fairfield County where he speaks about and advises concerning underage drinking and drug use. He is the co-founder and former advisor to the Ram Council Foundation, a student group devoted to living alcohol and drug free. He has recently established Informed Ascent, LLC, which is being developed in order to research and compile information and data about a wide range of social issues and offer education and information on those issues to parents and adolescents.

Matthew believes profoundly that advocating for his clients extends beyond the courtroom to finding durable solutions so that his clients can move forward and succeed.
