What is My Connecticut Personal Injury Case Worth?

It's unfortunate, but our legal system has no other way to try to make someone "whole", except with money.

The people we represent at The Maddox Law Firm who are injured in a Connecticut car accident or other serious Connecticut accident want to know, sooner or later, how much money is coming their way. That's understandable, because the people we represent have had their personal lives and their work terribly thrown off track, sometimes irreversibly.

To answer the "value" question, we look at a series of factors which include the following:

  1. How immediately did our client seek treatment and what were the original diagnoses?
  2. We examine the healthcare treatment history. The more uninterrupted the healthcare history, with qualified, credentialed providers, the more that the case value increases.
  3. In car accident cases, we look at how extensive the damage to our client's vehicle is and any other vehicle involved in the accident. This aspect of the case sometimes involves the assistance of a crash analysis expert who can provide data about metal deformation and the degree of force that was involved in the impact.
  4. Is there lost income, and will our client lose income in the future due to the accident? If so, how much?
  5. What are our client's final diagnoses and are there permanent impairments? In other words, has the accident left our client with a permanent reduction in the use or function of any body part, including a loss of brain function?
  6. What has changed in our client's personal life? What has our client had to give up as a result of the accident-related damages? This aspect involves such things as having to forego exercise or dramatically change an exercise regimen. Maybe the simple tasks and chores that used to be so easy can no longer be done. We also look at how our client's relationships and their physical interactions with their family and children may have changed.
  7. Then, we look at our client's own ability to tell their story. Because if our client is in a deposition or in a trial, they will have to be able to explain in their own words, what has happened to them and how they've been damaged.

Ultimately, a case is worth what a jury will award a plaintiff. This is an extremely important consideration for you and for your law firm, because unless your law firm is a trial law firm, an insurance company or the defendants' lawyers aren't likely to take the threat of a jury trial seriously.

If your law firm or lawyer isn't a true threat to try your case, you won't win the settlement that you deserve, and you certainly won't win the verdict that you deserve.

If you've been injured in a seriously Connecticut personal injury accident, call the Maddox Law Firm today.
