The Maddox Law Firm, LLC

"The Courts are for the Rich", Said our Client's Mother

"The courts are for the rich", said our client's mother, "not for people like us". Her deep alto voice in heavily accented English delivered her indictment with disgust and bitter resentment.

She was a woman who has authentically toiled her entire life to improve herself and her family's circumstances. And she has met with impressive success. After struggling to come to the United States and make a life here, she worked her way through nursing school and been a practicing nurse for nearly two decades.

She has cared for countless people during her career.

Her condemnation of the court system stabbed our collective conscience at The Maddox Law Firm. Because what she said was at least partly true.

There is a terrible imbalance in our court system and that imbalance has everything to do with money.

Contingency fees allow our Firm to right that imbalance in cases where we represent people who have been seriously injured and must fight extraordinarily large and wealthy corporate defendants. And it is a beautiful privilege to be our client's David slinging deadly stones at Goliath.

But what about criminal cases or other struggles that enlist law firms on an hourly fee basis? Those are the cases where our client's mother and her resentment cannot be denied.

I admit that this is not an inexpensive law firm. When we don't represent people on contingency, our client's pay for the exceptional level of diligence, compassion, skill, experience and intensity that we deliver for them.

But every day, we meet people whom we help and for whom we find ways to accommodate and represent and bring greater balance to an imbalanced system.

It is a fact of life for the Maddox Law Firm that alongside all of the people and corporations whom we fight, insinuated into all of the violations of Constitutional and civil rights, there is always the ever-present threat of economic injustice.

To our client's mother, we say, we know injustice. But, we are grateful to be an advocate in that struggle and to have the personnel and resources to push back every day.

We are also tremendously grateful to represent people from every walk of life, across the entire cultural and socioeconomic spectrum.

If you are the victim of real injustice in our courts and you need a relentless advocate, call The Maddox Law Firm today.
